I have been letting this little gem stymie me for little to no reason. I have found it difficult to do all the stitch crossings the pattern I selected requires in the black yarn - my old eyes handle low contrast poorly. This is also the first attempt I have made at cabling without a cable needle...

I have a difficult time knitting with black as well. I received a QK book as well and plan to knit up a quick pair with the book using some of my handspun. It's a book filled with great ideas!
I haven't graduated to cabling w/o a cable needle, but you did win me over to the QK Socks. I have a picture of my first pair on my blog. Second pair is on needles now - and it is going much better this time.
A series of barn photos I've taken or been sent. Barns are magical to me - they have so much character, and provide so much for the animals and farmers.
These are photos of finished objects, knit pre-blog. Some of these date back to the early 1980's, not having knit since my mother taught me to knit a scarf at the age of six.

It's cool to cable without the needle once you get used to it. I haven't used one in years. Looks good so far.
