Fantastic food. Best tuna melt ever. There's a sign at the register that always cracks me up, "Special orders DO upset us."

The Friars are Roman Catholic, not Episcopalian,

The friars are real characters. One is always talking and the other is quiet. Got to see them.

What a quiet, lovely get-away from this very busy world. Food is excellent, sandwiches are huge, atmosphere makes you hate to leave. The monks are very comical and make you very welcome. We always make sure we stop there on our trips to Bangor.

I will add that to my list! I'll be up there for a six week peds rotation next spring and it'll be a nice break from the hospital. (I'm a bit further south from you; I'd add myself to your map but I'm trying to remain a bit more "anon" on the web. Did you come down for the Lucy Neatby workshop?

  • East Holden, Maine barn studio
A series of barn photos I've taken or been sent. Barns are magical to me - they have so much character, and provide so much for the animals and farmers.

These are photos of finished objects, knit pre-blog. Some of these date back to the early 1980's, not having knit since my mother taught me to knit a scarf at the age of six.
