It has been a good month for finishing UFOs. I was overdue, as exemplified by the number of project bags I have with active projects in them...
Today, I finished these: for two health teachers at our town school. The school is pre-K through 8th grade, with only 170 students. Needless to say, the teachers know the kids and families well. I went as a parent chaperone to Quebec City with the French class this past spring. During the trip, I mentioned the uterus pattern on knitty.com - the French teacher, who formerly taught Health, requested one to give to her successor as Health teacher. One thing led to another.... Now I want to knit one for the gyn OR (I am an anesthesiologist) that has a fibroid on it, and one tube "tied" for a tubal ligation...
(The above is all at the extreme mortification of my 16 year old daughter and 13++ year old son.)
Then, there is the Hallowig: . It was knit for the French teacher as well. She apparently teaches using role playing with characters denoted by various wigs. (I did not know that until she asked me to make her a purple Hallowig). I couldn't get the 16 year old daughter or the 13 year old son to model it - I am really becoming the most outrageous and embarassing mother in the universe. So, I borrowed the stuffed rabbit from one of the kids to serve as my model.... I thought the dogs would destroy it if I tried it on them.
Then the last completed object of the day was a Babies and Bears sweater for my sister to give to a co-worker having her first baby. I found some awesome rolled & layered clay buttons that were perfect, and had a perfectly high price tag on them. Unfortunately, I lost the little bag with the buttons. More unfortunately, the shop where I bought them doesn't have them any longer. So, the sweater got shipped off with stars instead of awesome rolled layered clay buttons. And I forgot to take a final photograph before sending it....
By the end of tonight, my baby gansey should be done - I only have a few more rows on the last sleeve, and side seams to sew up. Weaving in ends, buttons, neckband are all done.... I'll get a FO picture of it before it goes to its recipient tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the first day of school. Will take the kiddies (16 & 13 hardly count as kiddies) for breakfast and drive them to school for the first day. There will be enough days ahead this year for them to wait for the bus in two feet of snow... I am on vacation this week, so I'll enjoy it with them, then enjoy my rare time alone while they are at school!
Thank you for your very interesting blog Very useful blog http://www.youtube-youtube-youtube.com

Hi, my name is Micael Cano. I'm from Laredo Texas and my career interest is on becoming an anesthesiologist. I've read most of your entry already. I was wondering if there's anything personal you would recommend a freshmen in high school to take to prepare himself?
