This is the first Johnny I knit, very early in my knitting career (circa 1984). I did the cables wrong, but I don't think you'd notice from the front. These Straker patterns always taught me something new - this one had raised ribbing, right and left slanting decreases, and a shaped hood using short rows, and cables. All of that was new to me (this was my first sweater, actually). Not only did I love the pattern well enough to make it more times, but this particular sweater has been worn by all four of my kids.
