The theme for this week is "10 Favorite Children's Movies". This one in some ways was tough. I am a baby boomer, growing up in the 60's overseas, so movies and TV were not readily available in my life. Most of the children's movies I think back on fondly are actually far more recent, with the invention of good special effects, computer technology in movies, and less singing. And so enters my list:
A. The Santa Clause (this movie takes on all the myths of Christmas without blowing it for kids. I did not, however, enjoy either sequel)
B. The Harry Potter movies
C. Raiders of the Lost Ark and sequels
D. Star Wars
E. ET
F. My Fair Lady
G. Mary Poppins (I can still remember Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious)
F. The Sound of Music (probably amongst my early introductions to the atrocities of the Nazis, with a love story and great music to bout)
I know it isn't 10, but the sequels bring it up beyond ten. I think this list makes if obvious I am not into animated movies, but I do love the special effects computers brought to movies!
